(Catholics) Where does it say in the Bible that abortion is murder?

Answer this question please. but first listen:

1. i don’t care what people wrote years after ‘jesus’ was dead, that’s not the Bible, it’s just what people made up.

2. I don’t care if it’s got anything to do with any other books or such as, that’s not the bible

3. i…

God’s people are defined as those who care, especially for the helpless and the hurting.

The DNA of a child not yet born is different than the DNA of the mother as well as anyother person born or not yet born. It is not a part of the mothers body but distinct, different, and individual.

Below is one of my favourites. “Milk” represents the mother, that which sustains and gives life. “Cooking” refers to death. Because you are a holy people, mothers should not bring death to their children.

Deuteronomy 14:21b
But you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

God abounds in mercy and forgiveness and can forgive any sin. The Bible of the Catholics is the same as the Bible of all who acknowlege Jesus crucified for our sin, and risen for our living hope!

God bless you!

Well, let’s take it from Exo 20:13. Now, the bible says, “You will not kill”. But clearly it doesn’t mean, “You will not kill anything”, right? What DOES “You will not kill” mean? Exodus – that is, the immediate context – makes it very clear. It specifically allows
a) killing animals or plants for food or sacrifice
b) killing in self-defense
c) killing opposing military forces during wartime
d) legal executions for capital offenses only
e) revenge killing – killing someone directly responsible for the death of an immediate family member

That’s it. In other words, “You will not kill” very clearly means, “You will not kill people *unless* it is a legal killing specifically described”. Another more obvious way to put it is “You will not murder”.

Now, the question is: where does the bible indicate that the killing of unborn children is lawful? We know all of the types of killing above are lawful *because* Scripture itself tells us that it is lawful. That is the ONLY reason we know that these types of killing are lawful. Is there *any* indication in Scripture that the killing of unborn children is lawful? No.

There is one final Scripture that is pertinent (v 22-25)

Notice: if premature birth occurs, but no other injury, the man responsible must pay a fine. However, if *any* other injury occur, then the law of talon, “a life for a life” comes into play. Clearly, here, we see that the life of an unborn child is equal in value to that of a grown man.

THAT is the clincher, Scripturally. Once the life of an unborn child is recognized as having just as much value as the life of an adult, killing that unborn child without legal excuse is, by definition, murder.

So, you are a christian, I have read some of your other questions and you sound very hateful. You need to back up and take a look at yourself, do you truly believe that you are a good person? Everyone who has answered your questions don’t seem to think so. You act as though you are better than everyone because you are Christian, because you decided you would take that name and follow that way, you can do no harm right? Well you are not better than anyone, we are all equal and God judges people by their hearts, and their kindness ad good deeds they do, not by what religion you are! just because you are christian does not give you the right to be cruel and hateful towards others. It does not give you the right to decide everyone elses fate just because they are not Christian. And babies are innocents, just because they have not been born yet, does not mean you can kill them. I also want to say that, if you are trying to conform anyone to being christian, your doing a terrible job. If you represent Christians than I don’t think anyone would want to be like you. I am not Christian, but I do believe in God. You and I must have different Gods, because my God is not evil, have you ever read the ten commandments? Try following them! Because your heart seems very corrupt. And I feel bad for you. You need to take a deep breath, and be consious about what your doing. Now, I ask you again,.. Do you truly believe you are a good person? If you still think so, then go ahead and stay in your bubble, be as hateful as you want and just pray for forgiveness. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings or anything but I honestly think you need to find yourself, find that love towards others, don’t judge, everyone has their differences, be kind to others and love everyone. I hope that you find some happiness in your life, something that changes your heart. You don’t sound like a very happy person, i dont know i your purposely being mean because maybe you just have some issues, or if you really are mean, but whatever has made you so hateful, let go of all that and i hope everything gets better. Try and smile! Genuinely! 🙂 God bless and have a wonderful day! Xo Meg 🙂

The verse that is most commonly quoted is Jeremiah 1:5, which is in the old testiment:

I knew you (i.e. your soul) before I formed you in the womb… the clear implication here is that babies in the womb have souls. Why is is murder to kill another man, but not considered murder to kill a cow? Because cows don’t have souls.

As to your absurd points…

1. Jesus never wrote anything. Everything written in the new testiment was written years after Jesus was dead. So, you’re saying the new testiment isn’t part of the bible? We have a name for that – Judiasm. And if you are Jewish, that’s fine, but why then are you basically saying that you want Christians to explain their beliefs, but not to use their own scripture, the new testament?

2. Okay, I can kind of see this, but… If these books don’t reference the bible, I can see throwing them out. However, if someone writes that they take verse A in the bible, and then they take verse B in the bible, and together they bring us to the inescapable conclusion C – well, what’s wrong with that? We aren’t talking about someone who is just making stuff up – we’re talking about someone who has poured through the bible, and reached their conclusions based on what is in the bible. You can read the verses youself and decide if you reach the same conclusion or a different conclusion.

3. Most religions that have a leader, such as the Pope, have chosen someone who has done a lot of biblical reasearch. Their followers consider them to be an expert in the field. Thus they are willing to accept this person’s conclusions. Catholicism specifically says that the Pope has some kind of direct line with God and therefore is capable of getting specific direction from God. I would personally disagree with this. The bible makes it clear that we all have a direct line to God.

“Thou shalt not kill” has everything to do with abortion. Fetuses are alive. To have an abortion is to kill them.

Well abortion is a pretty difficult topic, especially amongst Catholics, but when following a conservative outlook yeah, the fifth commandment is the main reason. But that was from the Old Testament which Moses wrote, not Jesus.

Pretty much Jesus said that we were created out of love, for love, to love. And that nobody is able to take a life other than God himself. As we were made in the image and likeness of God, we are in fact destroying part of him, when the primary role of humanity is to take care of his creation. But is terminating a fetus really defined as murder? We don’t really have a classification, so most anti abortionists or pro lifer’s classify it, from the time of conception, that it is life, and thus should not be killed. (they say its a baby, some of them) If we had a clear cut definition of when it is a baby, there would be no keffufal.

Catholics are also against contraceptive methods, such as condoms and the pill, but thats kind of going into a different topic.

If you are Catholic, I think you should make your own opinion for the matter, as it is not right to conform with something that you don’t think is right.

Me personally, I would say I’m an active Catholic, I am a very moral person, but abortion should not be completely ruled out. In situations of rape for example, it should be permitted. But I think they’re bringing it in too quick; currently in Australia they can have up to a 6 month termination: that’s 2/3 the way through pregnancy!

You are barking up the wrong tree. Catholics aren’t stuck on this premise that, “if it’s not in the Bible -it’s not true” — only Protestant/Fundamentalists are. There are plenty of things that aren’t overtly stated in the Bible that are obvious to anyone that isn’t brain dead. It doesn’t say that you shouldn’t eat sewage sandwiches for lunch either – do you want to chow down on one ? If you want to play that “if it’s not in the Bible… ” game then you wouldn’t know what to do for a LOT of things in life. God gave you an intellect and the principles set forth in Divine Revelation. Some things are obvious unless of course you WANT to be obtuse; or want to assuage a guilty conscience for an abortion that you already had.

Hello Shampoo!

Simple Answer:

(Exodus 20:13) You shall not kill.

IN the Hebrew OT Text…… there are “5-Words”…. translated into ENGLISH… for the Word….”KILL!”

This PARTICULAR… ‘Word’… in this VERSE… means… ‘TO TAKE INNOCENT…. LIFE!”

IT could be Better Translated… YOU Shall NOT “MURDER”…. ‘Innocent LIFE!’

As in the case of ABORTION…. where the Innocent BABY… is Killed for the convenience of the Parent/S !

(Genesis 4:8-9-10) And Cain talked with his brother Abel. And it happened when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
(Gen 4:9) And Jehovah said unto Cain, Where is your brother Abel? And he said, I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?
(Gen 4:10) And He said, What have you done? = = The voice of your brother’s = = blood = = cries to Me [GOD]… from the ground.

…. AMERICANS…. Have Murdered…. OVER….35-Million Babies! [ 35,000,000 ]

Their BLOOD…. Cries out In Judgment Against… AMERICA!

MOST…. will kill An Innocent BABY…. and then Try and Protect…. An Animal… USED FOR FOOD ! Like the people of PETA!

GOD… Killed the Animals…. to make skins for Adam and Eve! The meat was for them TO EAT!! See Genesis 3:21.

KILLING in war… is Acceptable ! Had not the USA… intervened in WW-2… We may be All … Speaking NAZI… German!

Capital Punishment is Ordained by GOD, in the Bible!

(Genesis 9:6) Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood shall be shed by man; for He made man in the image of God.

Hope that explains it for You!

Thanks for Asking! RR

And why must our reasoning come from scripture?

Every medical dictionary and biology textbook on the planet will define life in a way that includes a fetus even at the moment of conception. In addition, it has it’s own unique set of dna, making it, however tiny, distinct from it’s parents. It is medically and biologically alive and human, even if it looks like “a clump of cells”. The premeditated ending of a human life is murder. Abortion is the premeditated ending of a human life. Therefore, abortion is murder. It’s simple logic.

But if that’s not enough, then the verse that says “before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” suggests that we are all distinct, even before conception.

Furthermore, John the Baptist, while still in Elizabeth’s womb, lept for joy at the arrival of Jesus – who had been conceived a mere 3-4 days earlier.

Why wouldn’t “thou shall not kill” include the unborn? God is the author of life. He told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. Jeremiah 1:5 says:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.

Here we have God telling his prophet that he appointed him to be a prophet before he was even born. He also informs him (and all of us) that it was he (God) who formed Jeremiah in the womb.

Also, think about Christ. When he was first conceived by the Holy Spirit, was he not the Son of God at that very moment?

All through scripture God indicates that he is the author of life and that all life is sacred. Trying to find verses that explicity state certain pronouncements on current issues is pointless. Jesus gave us his Church and his Word to help guide us in knowing his will for all ages.

ADDED: << I don’t care what people wrote years after ‘jesus’ was dead, that’s not the Bible, it’s just what people made up.>>

Do you know that the New Testament was written years after Jesus died? Some of the letters written by the early Christians predate some of the New Testament texts? Did you also know, that the Bible you use was given you by the Catholic Church? It was she who declared which books were inspired and to be considerd the Word of God! So if you believe the Bible to be the infallible Word of God, you do so by the authority of the Catholic Church.

It says a pregnant woman is “with child” and says “thou shalt not murder.” Only a liar or someone ignorant of the Bible could say that abortion is not murder according to the Bible.

Mat 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Mat 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
